Overview

The Human Resources Development (HRD) program is an energetic and invigorating workforce development program that promotes community and economic grow by focusing on meeting business and industry needs and serves as a gateway for economic, social, and educational success.

HRD is a vital program that provides assessment services, employability skills training and career development counseling to those who are in transition and trying to refine their skills for the ever-changing workforce.

Fee Waiver Eligibility

All HRD courses are fee-waived for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Unemployed
  • Received notification of pending layoff
  • Working and eligible for Federal Income Tax Credit
  • Working and earning wages at or below two hundred percent (200%) of the poverty guidelines

Available Courses

This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The curriculum framework is based on the Nurse Aide, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, Electronic Health Records, Medical Administrative Assistant, Central Sterile Processing, and Surgical Technologist occupations and addresses the following topics:  career exploration, job seeking and keeping strategies, entry-level skill awareness and development; training success strategies including note-taking, test-taking strategies, reducing test anxiety, and preparing for certification exams and placement tests. 

This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The curriculum framework and the content of the instructional materials will focus on computer use skills as it relates to:  developing basic keyboarding, word-processing, and internet skills, learning technology-based job search strategies to include the use of social networking, applying for employment online, and accessing governmental and educational resources and services.

This course covers skills and strategies designed to provide employability skills training and career exploration for the role of Income Maintenance Caseworker within Division of Social Service agencies.

The ACT NCRC is a portable, evidence-based credential that documents essential skills needed for workplace success. This credential is used across all sectors of the economy and verifies the following cognitive skills:
