Scholarship Opportunities

Overview

Sampson Community College offers various scholarship initiative awards for non-degree Workforce Continuing Education courses leading to industry-recognized or state credentials for high-demand jobs in the region. Most courses can be completed in a semester or less. Our scholarship opportunities are training initiatives set to assist Sampson County residents with job transition and economic recovery.

The Golden Leaf Scholars Program is awarded to increase and support North Carolina residents, particularly in underserved populations, to assist with tuition & fees among other costs. Click this link to see if your county of residence qualifies you for this scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

Scholarship awards are determined locally based on student need, local industry needs, number of eligible students, and cost of course. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, and other components of the total cost of attendance for students enrolled.

FAQs for the Golden Leaf Scholars Program

How do i apply?

Download the application here. Then turn in the application to the Continuing Education office in the East Building. Applications are available to be picked up at the CE Office.

When can i apply for the golden leaf scholarship?

Students can apply for the Golden Leaf Scholarship before or after they have completed registration for their desired courses.

How long are scholarship funds available?

Students can apply for the scholarship between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

Scholarship cutoff for Spring 2023 Semester is December 1, 2022.

Scholarship cutoff for Summer 2023 Semester is April 1, 2023.

Can these funds be used for curriculum (degree) program?

No. These funds are specifically designated for Workforce Development & Continuing Education courses that are 96-hours or more and lead to an industry-recognized credential or licensure.

I am a CCP Student. Can I apply for the Golden Leaf Scholarship?

Yes. This program intends to remove barriers for individuals seeking short-term workforce training to reenter the workforce with a program that is 96-hours or more and leads to an industry-recognized credential or licensure.

Students meeting all State and local enrollment eligibility requirements are eligible.

Are fee waived students eligible for the golden leaf scholarship?

Yes, as long as the program is leading to an industry recognized credential or licensure, funds can be used to assist with testing fees based on funding needs.

When can i start courses?

Courses begin January 2023. Applications for Spring 2023 are available now.

Eligibility Requirements

Scholarship awards are determined locally based on student need, local industry needs, number of eligible students, and cost of course. The scholarship helps cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, and other components of the total cost of attendance.

The scholarship requires all students to fill out the NC Residency Determination Service Form and obtain their Residency Certification Number (RCN) in order to process the application.

The Viking Works Grant Scholarship is available to students currently enrolled in the following programs at Sampson Community College Workforce Development & Continuing Education:
