This course is designed to give student(s) the knowledge & skills to better prepare for employment opportunities due to learning the eight basic designs, understanding color coordination and seasonal flowers to use in a container. Upon completion, the student(s) will be prepared to make a floral design using the correct seasonal flowers. Topics taught are: Floral Design overview; discuss seasonal flowers and type of flowers grown in a specific season; learn the different types of containers; learn basic design: characteristics of upright, triangular, horizontal, & crescent; learn different types of art work that will correlate with the flower arrangements; paint wood work to accessorize flower arrangements; coordinate flower arrangements & painted art (wood, picture, and/or items paintable such as rock, patio slate, etc.)
Floral Design provides student(s) with skills to: learn seasonal floras; learn container types; learn basic design – triangular, upright, horizontal, & crescent. Student(s) will be able to understand & recognize which flowers grow in the spring, summer, fall, and/or winter season(s); to recognize the selection of container designs needed for specific occasions & specific locations; to recognize the numerous types of seasonal flowers & recognize the container needed for the arrangement.
Instructor will provide supply list on the first night of class.
No textbook is required for this course. Instructor will provide handouts and other reference materials.
Registration & Payment
Student(s) will register in-person on the first night of class. Payment will be required following registration also on the first night of class.
