SCC is an authorized training center for the American Heart Association and certifies students in the Healthcare Provider – Basic Life Support course. Students are required to obtain CPR as a pre-requisite for many areas of study, such as the Nursing and Emergency Medical Services programs.
This course is designed to prepare the Allied Health Student in understanding basic human structure and function. This course meets the prerequisite requirement for the Billing and Coding program.
Medical Billing is the process of submitting medical claims on behalf of a physician, hospital or clinic. The Medical Billing course provides up-to-date information relating to the health insurance industry and different reimbursement methodologies for correct claim processing and submission. This course is part of the Medical Billing and Coding program.
Medical Coding professionals review and extract clinical data from health records and assign appropriate medical codes. These codes are used for classification, reimbursement, planning, and research. SCC prepares students to complete the AHIMA CCA – Certified Coding Associate exam.
The Medical Terminology course is a one-semester course designed for students who need a medical terminology course to fulfill an admissions requirement to our Allied Health programs. This course offers a “Body Systems” approach to learning the language of medicine.
The Nurse Aide I or Certified Nursing Assistant program introduces students to basic nursing skills needed in a healthcare setting, and is approved by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.
Pharmacy Technicians help licensed pharmacists dispense prescription medication to customers or health professionals. They work in retail pharmacies and hospitals. Customer service skills are also learned as you may assist customers in retail with over-the-counter drugs, medical equipment and supplies, pharmaceutical care services, and other health care products.
Veterinarian Assistants play a vital role in the daily activities of a veterinary clinic by supporting the staff and working directly with the animals. For those who love animals, there are few jobs more rewarding than that of veterinary assistant.
