The purpose of the ACE program is to assist students with learning/intellectual disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, math, and vocational skills. Business & Industry courses at Sampson Community College are ideal for adults looking to add certifications to their resume and increase their on-the-job skills.
College and Career Readiness offers educational opportunities to qualifying minors (16 and 17 years) and adults whose desire is to complete a high school equivalency diploma (HSE) or learn English as a Second Language (ESL). The program is designed to help students improve their reading, writing, mathematics, and communication skills or basic life skills needed to transition into post-secondary education opportunities or pursue or retain employment in the workforce. If you have been ticketed with a minor traffic violation in Sampson County, or any other county that participates in North Carolina’s Defensive Driving program, you may elect to have your citation reduced by completing a Defensive Driving Course. This course is made available through Sampson Community College and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina to train motorists in the principles and practices of safe driving. Sampson Community College offers a wide range of over 300 highly interactive courses that can be taken entirely online via our Ed2Go Online Instruction Center.
The Heavy Equipment Operator Program is a one semester training program prepares students with basic knowledge on heavy equipment identification, safety, basic field surveying and a variety of other topics needed in the construction field. Heavy equipment operators run heavy machinery, install underground piping, develop land for home and industrial construction, build roadways and bridges across the United States. These careers require highly skilled employees who have a high work ethic, enjoy working outside and like working in a team environment where safety is the number one priority.
Registered students will also be partnered with a local contractor to serve in a internship while participating in the program. This will give a student real-life work experience in the field while they learn from heavy equipment experts. In addition, students will receive additional certifications related to erosion control, flagging and drone operation. A student will also have the opportunity to take part in the Sampson Community College Truck Driver Training program once they complete the Heavy Equipment Operator’s program.
The Human Resources Development (HRD) program is an energetic and invigorating workforce development program that promotes community and economic growth by focusing on meeting business and industry needs and serves as a gateway for economic, social, and educational success.
