Types of Services


Testing accommodations may include but are not limited to: extended time, separate setting, large print, reader, etc. Students who require testing accommodations must be registered with Disability Services. It is the student’s responsibility to take a completed Testing Accommodations Form to the instructor of the course(s) soon as possible after the beginning of the term. This form should be completed by the instructor and submitted by the either the instructor or the student to the Disability Services Office, preferably 48 hours but not later than 24 hours prior to the testing time. The student must contact the Coordinator of Disability Services three business days in advance to schedule a test. The day of the test does not count as a day. (For example, for a Tuesday test, the test must be scheduled by the previous Thursday). Students who do not arrive for scheduled test sessions on time may not receive the full accommodated testing time.


Certain types of devices or software may be used by individuals with disabilities to assist them with classroom activities and their studies. Please contact the Coordinator of Disability Support Services to discuss available options.


Deaf and/or hearing impaired students who require an interpreter or amplification support accommodations must self-disclose his or her need for accommodations. He or she must register with Disability Services and professional documentation, (diagnostic statement, recommendations for accommodations, credentials of the diagnosing professional) must be provided. Students requesting interpreter services are strongly encouraged to apply for assistance through The N.C. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, so that so that resources can be combined to provide accommodations.

Students who receive interpreter services will agree to communicate with their assigned interpreter(s) regarding any changes in their class and/or tutoring schedules as contracted. Failure to comply with contract(s) or repeated failure to notify their interpreter and the Coordinator of Disability Services at least 24 hours in advance of absences will result in a mandatory counseling meeting with the Coordinator and the Interpreter.
