Develop The East Campaign
Sampson Community College invites you to be a part of Develop The East — an ambitious plan to develop the eastern part of SCC’s campus into a community hub with walking trails, athletic field, restrooms and lighting — to help leave a lasting legacy in your community.
“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”
Mission of SCC Foundation
The mission of the SCC Foundation is to cultivate a broad base of community support for the college.
Enrollment in community colleges depends on relevant programming that will lead to job placement or college transfer. College transfer programs primarily consist of local high school students who are dual-enrolled, early college (SECHS) students, and recently graduated students who are seeking an Associate degree with transfer options to a four-year college or university. An enhanced student life experience, exactly the goal of Develop The East, will drive these students to choose SCC over other community college options, or even postpone attendance at a four-year school by attending SCC first.
The initial phase of Develop The East will include a multi-purpose field that can be used by the college for recreation and student life activities as well as by the city and the county for soccer league play or regional tournaments. As we move forward, we hope to include restrooms, lighting and a walking track. The location is ideal to showcase the vitality of our campus and to offer an invitation to the community to come be a part of the college.
