After working as a shift supervisor in a knitting manufacturing plant for fifteen years, Bill Kemmer found himself without a job after the plant closed. “It was a blessing in disguise for me, because I had always wanted to go to college to study computers.” Kemmer enrolled at SCC in the Computer Systems program and became a part-time work study student, and that work allowed him to move into a position as a full-time Computer Systems Technician after graduation and obtaining his Associate of Arts. Kemmer admits, “I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world. SCC opened up a whole new world to me. The folks there made me feel welcome and hopeful about my future.”
