STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (SSS) is an educational support
program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and
Sampson Community College. The mission of SSS is to encourage
and assist students who are traditionally under-represented
in post secondary education because of INCOME,
FAMILY BACKGROUND, and/or DISABILITY
in the completion of post-secondary education. Services, which
include TUTORIAL ASSISTANCE, and CULTURAL/EDUCATIONAL
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES, are focused on individual needs
at no cost to participants. Enrollment is open to eligible
students with continuing access until graduation.
Tutorial assistance and computer assisted instruction is provided
to all participants on a referral basis through the academic
alert system, Student Support Services staff or the participants’
own initiative. Cultural and social activities are provided
and designed to expose participants to the diversity of both
the regional and local communities.
