Accommodations process may begin by:
- Completing the admissions process at Sampson Community College;
- Meeting with the Disability Services Coordinator to self-identify and request accommodations;
- Providing professional documentation of his/her stated disability or signing a Consent for Release form to verify the stated disability.
Services may include, but are not limited to:
- Extended testing time and alternate testing locations (quiet environment);
- Academic, personal, transfer, and career counseling to students;
- Sign language interpreters;
- Note-taking services;
- Wheelchair accessible desk/tables;
- Permission to tape record class lectures and use recorded textbooks as required;
- Support services to students with visual, physical, sensory and psychological disabilities;
- Use of adaptive technology;
- Referrals to community agencies
Acceptable forms of documentation:
- Psychological report (full write-up)
- Woodcock Johnson Battery Revised (report)
- Neuropsychological evaluation
- Letter from doctor (with testing confirming diagnosis, functional limitations & educational limitations)
NOTE: Accommodations are designed to provide students with equal access in the classroom but do not change the academic standards, requirements, and code of conduct required of all students.
