Medical Training
Among the Continuing Education classes that are most in demand are those which prepare individuals for work in the health care field. At Sampson Community College, our current offerings include the following:
- Introduction to Healthcare
- Nurse Aide
- Phlebotomy
- Pharmacy Technician
- EKG Technician
- Medical Terminology
- Healthcare Billing and Coding
- Veterinary Technician
- Medical Office Skills
Emergency medical courses are also offered through Continuing Education and include Emergency Medical Responder, EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate, and Paramedic courses. Medical courses are designated “limited enrollment” meaning that candidates must apply for admission and meet established criteria in order to enroll.
North Carolina community colleges provide in-service training to greater than 90% of our State’s firefighters. NCDOI certification classes for Firefighters I and II, Rescue Technician, Driver Operator, and Emergency Vehicle Operator adhere to the training schedules posted at each fire department. Continuing Education classes for Emergency Medical Services follow the training schedules posted at each rescue headquarters. Initial training for Emergency Responders, EMTs and Paramedics is offered at various locations throughout the county based on demand or request.
