Sampson Community College’s Truck Driver Training Program is an excellent opportunity to earn your CDL's with our 8-week day class, Monday thru Friday, or our 16-week weekend class, which meets Thursday night and Saturday and Sunday.  We offer 350 hours of extensive training in vehicle operation with safety being our main objective.  Our training also includes logbooks, trip planning, general operation and maintenance, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.   Learn to drive and maneuver a tractor- trailer safely with the knowledge and experience of our trained instructors.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
  • Must get a criminal background check from the Clerk of Courts office
  • Must have an Uncertified Complete History driving record from the DMV in
    Raleigh, NC

  • Must be able to obtain a North Carolina CDL Class "A" Learner's Permit prior
    to class start

Disqualifications:

  • No "careless or reckless" violations in the last 1 year
  • No "license suspensions" in the last 1 year
  • No "drug possession" charges in the last 2 years
  • No "DUI or DWI" in the last 5 years
  • No "felonies" in the last 5 years

CDL Permit Study Class

24 hour study class that will prepare you for the 3 tests required that you have to take at the DMV for your Class "A" Learner's Permit. This class is offered before each scheduled class. This class is recommended for persons lacking the knowledge of Tractor-Trailer systems and operations. It equips you with the knowledge in General Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicles. The cost of this class is $70.00 and will register on the same registration nights listed for our Truck Driver Training classes. The study class is 6 nights from 6pm - 10pm.
