| Admission
to Nursing Programs
Sampson Community College uses special admission procedures
for nursing
programs. Applicants who wish to enter the Associate Degree
Nursing or the Practical
Nursing programs must meet general admission requirements
beyond those
established for general college admission.
Students interested in enrolling in one of the nursing
programs are encouraged to
complete the admissions requirements below by March 15. The
college reserves
the right to extend the application period when warranted.
General Admission Requirements
- Complete Sampson Community College admissions
application.
- Submit official high school (or GED) and all college
transcripts (if applicable.)
- Complete ALL prerequisite courses with a grade
of "C" or better. Prerequisite
courses (Chemistry, Biology, and Algebra) should be completed
with ten years of
high school graduation. A score of 40 on the ASSET placement
test will waive the
algebra requirement.
- Submit an official copy of Scholastic Aptitude
Test scores. A minimum score of
920 is required (Verbal 480, Math 440) or
- Submit an official copy of American College Test
scores. A minimum of 19 is
required (Verbal 19, Math 19) or
- Complete the ASSET test within three (3) years
of proposed admission with
minimum scores as noted: Reading (42), Writing (42), Algebra
(40), Numerical
(42).
- The Nursing Admissions Committee reviews all applications
meeting the
minimum stated requirements for consideration.
